HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison volleyball capped off the Tropical Smoothie Invitational with a 3-1 win against Drake on Saturday evening inside Sinclair Gymnasium.

The Dukes improved to 6-0 on the year, winning the match by sets scores of 19-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-15 to take first place in the four-team invitational. Drake finished in second with a 2-1 record, while Cornell took third with a win Saturday afternoon over Hampton, which rounded out the invitational.

MATCH ONE NOTES

The Dukes had 10 aces in the match, led by sophomore Sarah Martin with three.
Sophomore Briley Brind'Amour and junior Bryn Recker led JMU with eight kills apiece.
JMU held the Pirates to a .065 and .000 hitting percentage over the first two sets, respectively, while the Dukes hit .253 for the match.
Senior Taylor Austin led all players with 15 digs.
Reeana Richardson (13) and Kyndall Nicholas (10) led the Lady Pirates with double-digit kills.

MATCH TWO NOTES

The Dukes tallied 60 kills in the match led by all-tournament MVP Byrn Recker and Briley Brind'Amour who had 17 kills each.
JMU had an impressive 15 total blocks, the last time the Dukes had 15 or more blocks was in December of 2016 against Coastal Carolina with 16.
The reigning CAA Defensive Player of the Year, Taylor Austin had 35 digs in the match, tallying 50 on the day and 64 total over the weekend.
Overall, the Dukes had 91 digs in the match and held the Bulldogs to a .000 hitting percentage in the second set, while JMU hit .271 for the match.
