GREENVILLE, S.C. - Senior
Gabrielle Weiss posted her lowest round in almost two years on Sunday afternoon to lead the James Madison women's golf team on the final day of the Lady Paladin Invitational, hosted by Furman at the par-72, 6,278-yard Furman University Golf Club.

Weiss racked up six birdies on her way to a round of 1-over 73 on Sunday, pushing her 14 spots up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 56th at 230 (+14) in the 93-player field. The day marked her best round since shooting a round of 2-over 72 at the UNCG Forest Oaks Classic in October of 2015.

As a team, the Dukes posted their best round of the season on Sunday, using an 11-over 299 on Sunday afternoon to maintain their hold on 13th and finish just 10 strokes behind Ole Miss. Furman took home the team title on its home course, notching a final-day 280 (-8) to finish at 857 (-7) and capture the win over the 17-team field.

Maddisen Cox and sophomore
Lauren Comegys each posted rounds of 3-over 75 on Sunday afternoon, pushing the duo into ties for 50th and 56th, respectively. Cox matched her low round of the season, while Comegys racked up 12 pars across a steady 18 holes.

Katie Turk posted her best round of the weekend, playing her final 10 holes in just 1-over to card a 4-over 76 that lifted her into sole possession of 75th at 236 (+20), while senior
Laura Gomez-Ruiz fought through illness to close the JMU scoring at 5-over 77 and earned her a tie for 21st, the highest of any JMU player on the weekend. Freshman
Ella Woods also carded her best round of the weekend with an 84 (+12).

The Dukes will have two weeks off before traveling to historic Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C. to take part in the 2017 Pinehurst Challenge, hosted by College of Charleston on Oct. 9-10.
