HOW IT HAPPENED
- JMU opened the match on a high, holding a slight advantage as the teams traded points. Not until the end did the Dukes truly pull away with a 4-1 run in that included a kill from Martin, a Martin/White block, a Pride attack error and a Gail/Recker block, which took the first-set victory.
- Hofstra picked up the first four points of set two before the Dukes came back to force a more evenly matched game. The Pride finally tied the Dukes at 22-all before shooting to a second-set win.
- Again, the Pride pulled away right out of the gates as the Dukes trailed closely behind. Two spikes from Recker and a kill from Gail brought JMU right to Hofstra's level and the two battle to close the set until the Pride utilized a block and a kill to seal the set.
- In the final set, Hofstra took control immediately, quickly taking a solid lead as JMU could only manage points every so often. Though the Dukes fought until the end, thwarting one match point, the Pride finished the match on a 6-1 run.
