THE SECOND ROUND
- James Madison travels to Cary, N.C. to face the Tar Heels of North Carolina in the Second Round of the 2018 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship.

- The Dukes received an automatic bid to the tournament after winning the Colonial Athletic Association Championship match in penalty kicks, 4-2, over Hofstra on Sunday, Nov. 11. JMU advanced to the Second Round after blanking High Point, 3-0, on Thursday night.
- This is the eighth meeting between the two programs and UNC holds the all-time series record 4-3.
- In its 26th NCAA postseason appearance, UNC earned the No. 5 seed after posting a 14-3-1 overall record while winning the ACC regular-season title for the fourth consecutive year.
- Recapping High Point: The Dukes shut out High Point, winning 3-0 on Thursday night in the First Round of the 2018 NCAA Championship at Vert Stadium. The Dukes took seven shots while the Panthers were unable to take a single shot on frame.
- Senior Aaron Ward-Baptiste registered the game-winning goal in the 19th minute, scoring from six yards out on a cross from graduate student Yannick Franz.
- Junior Manuel Ferriol notched a brace, scoring in both the 31st and 70th minutes. He scored his first goal off an indirect free kicked tapped by Ward-Baptiste snd struck his second goal of the night from roughly 25 yards out on a pass from junior Niclas Mohr.
- The Dukes' defense stood strong, eliminating redshirt sophomore TJ Bush from having to make any saves for the 12th shutout of the season.
- This is the 13th appearance for JMU in the NCAA Tournament and its first since 2014.
- The Dukes hold a 5-12-1 all-time record in the tournament and have made it as far as the Elite Eight in both 1994 and 1995.
- In 2014, the Dukes fell to North Carolina in the opening round of the NCAA Championship in Chapel Hill, N.C.
- The winner of Sunday's match advances to the Sweet 16 and will face the winner of Virginia Tech vs. Charlotte. The Third Round will be held on Nov. 24 or 25.
