The Volunteers added two more runs in the seventh inning of a pinch-hit two-run home run from freshman Brandon Trammell before scoring their final run in the eighth off a double play that scored the runner on third.
Â
In the ninth, senior
Ryan Coale drew a pinch-hit one out walk with the bases loaded that scored JMU's only run of the game.
Â
QUOTING COACH IKE
"When you give up seven runs in the first inning, you set yourself up for a long night. Give credit to Richards for coming in early in the first and tossing 4.2 scoreless innings. I was proud of the way our guys played defense and fought hard all game. We just can't give up so many runs in the first inning and expect to win ball games."
