HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison senior defender
Caroline Sdanowich was voted one of the nation's best, as she was named an IWLCA Second Team All-American, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced during the Division I All-American Special on Lax Sports Network.
Â
It's the second All-America nod for Sdanowich this year, as she was earlier named Second Team All-American by Inside Lacrosse.
Â
Sdanowich was voted Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year after being named a top-25 nominee for the Tewaaraton Award. She was the lone CAA athlete to rank in the top 10 in every hustle-stat category in 2019.
Â
She ranked fourth in the league in caused turnovers (38), seventh in draw controls (72) and 10th in ground balls (42). She was responsible for 50% of JMU's 8-meter defense with her shot-blocking and deflecting abilities, which resulted in JMU holding opponents to a .286 free-position percentage. A two-time All-CAA honoree, including First Team honors this past season, Sdanowich was also recognized on the CAA Championship All-Tournament Team in each of her final three seasons.
The CAA had three total players honored on the 2019 IWLCA All-America Team, as Hofstra attacker Alyssa Parrella and Towson defender Sami Chenoweth were Third Team members.
