Greensboro, N.C. – James Madison men's tennis wrapped up the UNCG Invitational with three doubles and four singles wins.

The tournament, hosted by University North Carolina at Greensboro, was being played in a hidden-dual format, similar to JMU's spring schedule of six singles and three doubles with extra matches, eight singles and four doubles. The Dukes competed against Campbell in doubles and ECU in singles.

The morning kicked off with a doubles wins by the duo of juniors
Alvaro Arce and
Gonzalo Adis. Arce and Adis defeated Campbell's Raphael Calzi and Bastien Huon in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (2). Seniors
Paul Mendoza and
Tate Steinour followed the trend by winning 6-1 over Ondrej Labik and Gustavs Lukstins.

William Karpinski fell in a hard fought battle to Fernando Clemete and Mikael Rodriguez 6-4. Sophomore
Stefan Petrovic and senior
Josh Raymundo completed the doubles round by defeating Noe Macquart and Ted Williams, 6-4.

Petrovic earned his first singles win as a Duke, taking down ECU's Simon Labbe 7-5, 6-1. After a close first set, Arce fell to Diogo Marques 7-5, 6-2. Mendoza and Steinour both fell to their opponents 6-4, 6-4. Adis had a comeback victory in the third set winning 2-6, 6-1, 11-9 over Agustin Tamagnone. Continuing his impressive start in singles this fall, Karpinski won 6-1, 6-3 against Federico Masetti. Raymundo closed out the singles round with his third victory of the tournament over Daniel Bird, 2-6, 6-2, 10-7.

JMU travels to Richmond, Va. to compete in the River City Invitational, hosted by University of Richmond. The tournament takes place from Friday, Oct. 11 through Sunday, Oct. 13 at the Westhampton Tennis Complex.
