QUICK HITS
- After making the southern swing last week, James Madison returns home this weekend for a pair of Colonial Athletic Association bouts, beginning with a 7 p.m. matchup against Delaware on Thursday evening.
- This past Saturday, the Dukes couldn't slow down a hot-shooting College of Charleston team in an 85-69 loss at TD Arena, despite a 23-point, 14-rebound double-double from junior Dwight Wilson, his seventh double-double in the last eight games. Junior guard Matt Lewis tallied 15 points in the loss.
- Heading into the Dukes' fifth CAA matchup, junior Matt Lewis leads the charge with 17.6 points per game, while junior Darius Banks is adding 12.3 points per contest and junior Dwight Wilson is averaging a double-double at 11.7 points and 11.2 boards.
- Wilson's rebounding average currently ranks second in the league as one of just two players averaging double digits, and his 60.0% clip from the field is tops in the CAA, while sophomore Deshon Parker currently leads the CAA in assist-turnover ratio at 1.829.
- The Dukes were tabbed to finish fourth in the preseason poll of the league's coaches and media members, earning three first-place votes along the way in one of the closest preseason polls in league history.
- Heading into the season, JMU welcomed a six-member freshman class, including forward Michael Christmas, Dalton Jefferson and Julien Wooden, as well as guards Zyon Dobbs, Jayvis Harvey and Quinn Richey.
SCOUTING THE BLUE HENS
- After opening its 2019-20 campaign with a program-best nine straight victories, Delaware has lost five of its last seven to fall to 11-5 (1-2 CAA) in 2019-20, half a game ahead of the Dukes in the early CAA standings.
- Junior guard Nate Darling paces the prolific Blue Hen offense, racking up 20.2 points per contest, third-most in the CAA to this point. Junior guard Ryan Allen adds 13.4 points, while sophomore forward Justyn Mutts averages 13.2 points and 9.2 boards.
SERIES HISTORY
- Thurday's contest in Harrisonburg will mark the 33rd time the two schools have met in men's basketball with every contest coming since the Blue Hens joined the CAA prior to the 2001-02 campaign.
- Delaware leads the all-time series by a 19-13 margin over the Dukes, owing mostly to its victories in the first nine games between the two teams, and holds a 9-7 edge in games played in Harrisonburg.
- In the last meeting between the schools, the Dukes hit 25 of their 49 shots (51%) and used a 12-2 run late in the second half to pull away as they picked up a 68-61 victory at the Convocation Center. Then-sophomore forward Dwight Wilson found success in the post, hitting six of his nine shots to notch a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards.
