HARRISONBURG, Va. - The James Madison women's golf team has signed
Tatum Walsh to a National Letter of Intent to join the Dukes for the 2021-22 season, Head Coach
Tommy Baker announced on Friday afternoon.
Â
Walsh, who hails from Midlothian and will be just the second Virginia-based golfer on the Dukes' roster, has already established herself as one of the strongest players in the Mid-Atlantic, having won the Virginia Women's Amateur Championship earlier this summer prior to her senior season of competition at St. Catherine's School in Richmond.
Â
"Tatum is unquestionably one of the top players in the state of Virginia," Baker said. "We are very excited to watch her continue that success here in Harrisonburg over the next four years."
Â
In addition to her victory at the Virginia Am, Walsh carded a 68-69 at the VSGA Junior Girls Championship this year and posted multiple top-10 finishes across the Peggy Kirk Bell Golf Tour, including a seventh-place finish at the tour's 2020 Open Championship.
Â
Walsh will join a JMU roster slated to return nearly its entire roster from the 2020-21 campaign, which the Dukes hope to tee off in the spring.
