HARRISONBURG, Va. - James Madison led wire-to-wire taking down the first-place Drexel, 69-39 in Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball action inside of the Convocation Center on Sunday evening.
The Dukes (22-4, 13-2 CAA) held the Dragons (20-7, 13-2 CAA) to 17.6 percent (12-of-68) shooting from the field to extend their win streak to six games and move into a tie for first place in the CAA.
JMU had three players score in double figures, led by freshman
Kiki Jefferson who had 15 points on a perfect 7-of-7 from the field and eight rebounds. Senior

How it Happened
After jumping out to a 6-2 advantage, JMU went on an 8-0 run with 6:06 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Smalls, to increase its lead to 14-2, a score that would hold for the rest of the period. JMU did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 10 of its 14 points close to the basket.
JMU kept its first quarter lead intact before going on an 11-0 run starting at the 8:55 mark in the second period to increase its lead to 25-2. Drexel started to find some offense in the second half of the second period but JMU still cruised to a 38-12 halftime lead.
JMU continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on a 6-0 run to expand its lead further to 46-16 with 3:28 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Dragons had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Dukes still entered the fourth quarter with a 53-26 edge which was enough cushion to hold out for the win.
