- Saturday afternoon's matchup will mark the 34th time James Madison and Delaware will square off in men's basketball, with every matchup coming in the years since the Blue Hens joined the CAA prior to the 2001-02 campaign.
- With the help of victories in the first nine games between the two schools, Delaware has built a 20-13 lead in the all-time series with the Dukes, with JMU looking for its first victory in Newark since a 73-63 victory on Jan. 2, 2016.
- In the meeting earlier this year, the two teams traded runs and leads until the final minute, when Delaware got a transition three-pointer to take a 75-73 lead for good as the Dukes dropped an 80-76 decision at the Convocation Center. Juniors Matt Lewis and Darius Banks led the way for JMU with 19 and 18 points, respectively, while junior forward Dwight Wilson racked up 15 points and nine boards.
