HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison men's soccer looks to defend their back-to-back CAA championships this spring, as head coach Paul Zazenski announced the 2020-21 slate on Tuesday. The schedule features three home matchups and seven games overall including a tilt against the defending champion, Georgetown.
"We are just excited to get back out on the field and play outside competition," said Zazenski. "There is undoubtedly going to be challenging times ahead, but we are very thankful for the opportunity to have a season in any capacity. We have laid out a very difficult seven game regular season starting out with the defending national champions (Georgetown) on their home field. Each game we play in the 2021 spring season will be significant so we are looking forward to seeing what this team is capable of achieving."
The Dukes will open up the season on Friday, Feb. 19 as they travel to play Georgetown, who are coming off winning the 2019 NCAA National Championship. They then will stay on the road and head to Fairfax, Va. for a matchup with George Mason on Saturday, Feb. 27.
The month of March begins with the first home game of the 2020-21 season for the Dukes, hosting George Washington at Sentara Park on Saturday, March 6. The Dukes take a 15-day break before opening Colonial Athletic Association play by welcoming Elon on Sunday, March 21.
JMU then goes on the road for their next two games, playing College of Charleston (Saturday, 3/27) and William & Mary (Friday, 4/2). The Dukes will return home to recognize their senior class in the regular season finale on Friday, April 9 with a matchup against UNCW, a rematch of last year's CAA title game.
Please note complete details, including dates, and sites, for the CAA Tournament will be announced at a later date.
