RALEIGH, N.C. - Senior
George Heath led the way for the James Madison men's golf team over the weekend, as the Dukes finished ninth at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, hosted by NC State at the par-72, 7,358-yard Lonnie Pool Golf Course.

Heath tied for fourth at the 89-player event, posting a 210 (-6) for the weekend after rounds of 65-70-75. The performance marked the sixth top-five finish of his career, while his 7-under 65 in the opening round was tied for the third-best round in program history.

As a team, the Dukes took home ninth place on a strong 16-team leaderboard, closing the weekend at 867 (+3) amidst a tight pack, just seven shots behind third-place Virginia Tech.

Ignacio Montero joined Heath inside the top 10, shooting 68-71-75 to tie for 13th at 214 (-2) for the weekend. His opening-round 68 (-4) marked his best round of the fall.

Ignacio De Pineda tied for 56th at 222 (73-74-75), while senior
Neal Shipley was two shots behind in a tie for 65th at 224 (71-73-80). Freshman
Alexandre D'Aurelle de Paladines closed out the JMU scoring in a tie for 83rd at 231 (75-81-75).

UP NEXT
The Dukes have wrapped up the fall portion of their 2021-22 campaign and will return to tournament play on the other side of the new year. JMU will open the spring in San Juan, Puerto Rico, travelling to TPC Dorado Beach to take part in the Dorado Beach Collegiate on Feb. 27-March 1.
