HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison volleyball completed a weekend sweep of William & Mary with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-7, 25-18) victory on Sunday.
JMU improved to 12-4 overall and 6-2 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while W&M fell to 3-10 overall and 0-8 in the CAA. The Dukes are tied in with Elon in the loss column for first place atop the league standings.
While no Duke reached 10 kills for the match, JMU outkilled the Tribe, 34-23, and outhit them, .233 to -.077. Junior
Sophia Davis had seven total blocks while freshman
Annie Smith had five, to tally 14 for the weekend. Junior
Caroline Dozier set 24 assists, eclipsing the 500-assist mark for the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
James Madison took an early 14-6 lead, and still led by eight at 19-11. William & Mary cut the lead to four at 21-17, but
Sophia Davis won the last JMU three points with two kills and a solo block, as the Dukes took the set 25-19.
Second Set
JMU took charge early with an 8-2 lead and ran away with the set, winning 15 of the final 17 points in a 25-7 victory. Seven points ties the fewest the Dukes have allowed an opponent in a set this season (Alabama State, Sept. 3).
Third Set
William & Mary raced out to an early 8-1 advantage, but the first Duke deficit of the match would not last long. JMU tied the set at nine, before going on a 7-0 run to flip a 13-11 deficit into an 18-13 lead. The Tribe never got closer than three from that point on, as
Annie Smith ended the match with a solo block to secure a 25-18 set victory.

JMU will travel to UNCW next weekend for matches on Oct. 23 and 24. Saturday's match will begin at 4 p.m. while Sunday's match will begin at 1 p.m. Streaming for both matches will be available through FloSports.
