HARRISONBURG, Va. - Six different players scored in double figures on Wednesday night as James Madison opened the 2021-22 men's basketball season with a 135-40 romp past Carlow University at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.

The Dukes (1-0) racked up the second-most points in program history in the win, shooting 64% (55-86) from the field and knocking down a school-record 17 three-pointers. Junior guard
Jalen Hodge led the way with a career-high 21 points, while redshirt freshman
Justin Amadi notched his third career double-double in a 15-point, 15-rebound performance.

JMU took control from the outset, opening the game on an 18-2 run and never allowing the Celtics within 25 after the opening 10 minutes. All 13 Dukes that dressed on Wednesday scored at least one bucket in the win.

- The Dukes grabbed 21 steals, matching the program record they set in last season's opener against Limestone.
- The win marked the collegiate debut of freshmen
