QUICK HITS
- James Madison will close out its week in Florida on Sunday, Nov. 28, as the Dukes depart Naples and travel east to Boca Raton for a matchup at Florida Atlantic at 2 p.m.
- The Dukes are 5-2 on the season thus far, as the Dukes are coming off a 1-2 week at the Naples Invitational. JMU battled its way to a 78-76 win over Wright State, but dropped contests to Kent State and Murray State to bookend the event.
- After capping this four-game road trip on Sunday afternoon, JMU will return to Harrisonburg for a three-game homestand, beginning with a matchup against Eastern Mennonite on Thursday, Dec. 2.
- Against Murray State on Wednesday, the Dukes stormed out to an early lead, but couldn't hold off the Racers as they shot 72.4% from the field in the second half to erase a double-digit JMU advantage before halftime. Takal Molson tallied 14 points to lead the Dukes, while Charles Falden and Alonzo Sule added 10 points each.
- The Dukes have started the season with a balanced attack on offense, with nine different players averaging at least eight points, led by junior guard Vado Morse at 11.3 and Molson at 10.2.
- Sule has been a force on the glass, grabbing at least seven rebounds in five of the first seven contests, good for an average of 6.4 per game, while Molson adds 5.5 per contest from the guard position.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
- Florida Atlantic sits at 3-3 on the season, having not played in nearly a week after dropping an 83-78 decision to Troy in overtime last Monday in Boca Raton.
- The Owls have left their home court for just one contest so far this season: a 99-92 loss at New Mexico in the 2021-22 season opener. Since then, FAU has played five home contests in a row - the Dukes will represent the sixth game of a nine-game homestand.
- Junior guard Michael Forrest currently leads the Owls in scoring and ranks sixth in Conference USA at 16.7 points per contest through six games. Redshirt freshman Vladislav Goldin leads the way on the glass, pulling down 6.5 rebounds per game.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Dukes have played Florida Atlantic four times in program history, all since the 2002-03 season and all resulting in JMU wins, including a 79-70 triumph in Harrisonburg last year in a contest that was scheduled just two days ahead of tipoff.
- JMU has won all four contests between the schools, but has only played in Boca Raton once: a 73-70 victory back on Dec. 20, 2003.
- In last season's game in Harrisonburg, the Dukes shot a remarkable 80% (16-20) from the field in the second half on their way to a 79-70 victory that saw Justin Amadi rack up 17 points on a 7-7 shooting performance.
