Saturday, November 6, 2021
Harrisonburg, Va. | Bridgeforth Stadium
Saturday marks the first meeting ever between the Dukes and Camels.
However, this will be the 20th game ever against a team from the Big South Conference.
JMU is 16-3 all-time against Big South foes, including an 11-2 mark at home.
This is the second Big South opponent of the calendar year, as JMU beat Robert Morris 36-16 back on Feb. 27, 2021 during the spring season.
Campbell becomes the eight different team from the Big South JMU has faced. The Dukes have played former Big South and FCS squad Liberty more than any other team in that league, going 7-2 while the Flames were a member of the league.
Last week's opponent, Elon, also played JMU once while a Big South member, with JMU winning 42-21 in 2001.
In the previous 19 games against the BSC, JMU has scored 40 or more points in nine games, including a JMU-playoff record 66 points versus Monmouth on Dec. 7, 2019.
JOHNSON SETS RECORD, HONORED BY CAA
Last weekend, Cole Johnson set the JMU single-game record with six passing touchdowns on his way to being named CAA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Johnson completed 88% of his passes, going 22-of-25 for 307 yards.
He converted 20 straight pass attempts in the first half, going 21-of-22 for 276 yards and five scores during the opening 30 minutes. His five first-half touchdown passes also set a JMU single-half record.
Johnson found five different players for touchdown passes, setting a school record as well.
The six touchdown passes was a CAA high, as he bested his own season-best mark of five.

Kris Thornton had five catches for 95 yards, which included a 58-yard score.
JMU scored 14 points over a seven-play stretch to take over. After Thornton's long touchdown, Taurus Carroll intercepted a pass, leading to Wells Jr.'s first TD two plays later.
