- Virginia will open its season against the Dukes after ending their 2020-21 season early due to COVID concerns.
- Graduate transfer Eleah Parker was named to the 2022 Lisa Leslie Award Watch List. The annual award recognizes the nation's top center in NCAA Division I women's college basketball.
- Virginia returns Amandine Toi and Carole Miller to lead the Cavaliers in the backcourt. The two guards have each appeared in 35 games for Virginia.
