Holden Koons and Paul Mendoza Named CAA Doubles Team of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – James Madison's redshirt freshman Holden Koons and redshirt senior Paul Mendoza have been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Playing at the #1 doubles spot, Koons and Mendoza clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory against Longwood's Guilherme Sergio and Ernest Rocabert.

The Dukes would later go on to win the road match 4-3, with the doubles point being the difference. Mendoza also rallied for a 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4 win at #3 singles to tie the match at 3-3, before JMU secured in the final singles match.

Koons and Mendoza moved to 2-1 in doubles this season, as Sunday's win joined their doubles victory at Virginia Tech two weeks ago.

JMU returns to action on Friday, March 12 when it travels to Norfolk, Va., to face Old Dominion. The opening serve is set for a 1 p.m. start.
