CONWAY, S.C. – Trailing 2-0, James Madison reeled off four straight singles wins to rally past Coastal Carolina, 4-2, in Sun Belt Conference men's tennis action on Friday afternoon at the Stevens Tennis Complex.

The Dukes (11-6, 2-1 Sun Belt) earned their first win over the Chanticleers (10-8, 0-1 Sun Belt) since 2023, snapping a three-match skid in the series. It was also JMU's first win over CCU in Conway since 2013.

JMU produced singles wins from
Aurelien Schmitt,
Ryan Morgan,
Francisco Sinopoli and
Zach Fleishman. The first three each won in straight sets, while Fleishman pulled away in the third set to clinch the match.

Coastal nabbed the early lead with the doubles point. The Chanticleers captured a pair of 6-3 wins on courts two and three to take the 1-0 match lead.

In singles play, the lead grew to 2-0 for the hosts, as Christopher Norlin defeated
Esteve Agusti, 6-2, 6-2, on court one.

JMU got on the board on court two, as Schmitt downed Juan Cruz Collardin in a tight match, at 6-4, 7-6 (4). Morgan squared the bout at 2-2 on court four, holding off Jack Dixon, at 6-2, 6-4. JMU took the lead on court three, as Sinopoli won a thriller over Eric Tripathi, 7-6 (4), 6-4.

The match would be decided with the final two courts going to third sets.

Leading 4-3 in the third on court five, Fleishman won the final two games, which included breaking the serve of Curzio Manucci in the final game, to clinch the match for the Dukes, at 7-6 (5), 1-6, 6-3.

Elsewhere,
Gur Libal led in the third set on court six versus Enzo Garutti, as his match went unfinished at 6-4, 6-7 (4), 4-2.

JMU is back on the court in Conway on Saturday, April 4 when it faces Sun Belt foe Georgia State. The match is set for an 11 a.m. start.
