HARRISONBURG, Va. - The James Madison men's golf team has signed incoming freshman Daniel Cheng to a National Letter of Intent to join the Dukes for the 2021-22 season, as announced by Head Coach
Carter Cheves on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
Cheng comes to Harrisonburg after a decorated stint at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., where he has been one of the strongest junior players in the state, most recently finishing t-6 at the AJGA Junior at Innisbrook and taking third place at the Florida Junior Tour Championship.
Â
Prior to this season, he also picked up wins at the HSBC China Open, the AJGA Preview, the HJGT National Championship and was the winner of the Florida Junior Tour last year.

Â
"Daniel is one of the top ranked players in the very talent-rich state of Florida," Cheves said. "He's proven himself against a challenging junior schedule and we're very excited about what he'll bring to our program going forward."
Â
Aside from his success in his prep career, Cheng also picked up victories at the China Junior Masters, the China Junior Classic and was the most valuable player on the China Amateur Tour. He also earned runner-up honors at the Belgium International Junior Championship.
Â
This year's Dukes will be back in action at the end of the month, traveling to the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at UNC Finley Golf Club on March 27-28 after taking third place at the Seahawk Intercollegiate earlier this week.
