CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Top-ranked North Carolina used a sizable scoring run in the second half to pull away from #24 James Madison en route to a 15-5 win on Sunday afternoon at Dorrance Field.

The Tar Heels remained unbeaten, moving to 9-0, while the Dukes fell to 4-2 this season.

Defense dominated the early part of the game, with neither team finding an offensive rhythm. JMU cut the UNC lead to 3-2 nearly midway through the first before a three-goal spurt by the hosts gave the Heels a 6-2 lead.

Leading 7-4 nearly midway into the second half, the Tar Heels put together a 6-0 run that spanned 10 and a half minutes to build a 13-4 lead. JMU never drew closer than eight the rest of the way.

Katie Hoeg led the charge for UNC, scoring a game-high five goals with four assists, while Jamie Ortega scored four times with two helpers and Scottie Rose Growney added three goals and three assists.

Isabella Peterson tallied a team-best four points off two goals and two assists, while redshirt sophomore
Kacey Knobloch added a pair of first-half goals.

Molly Dougherty made a game-high 13 saves, including nine in the second half. UNC's Taylor Moreno earned the victory in cage after turning away eight JMU shots.

In the hustle areas, Dougherty collected four ground balls, while Peterson won four draw controls.
