RICHMOND, Va. – James Madison women's tennis could not continue their recent momentum, falling in a highly-competitive match, 4-3, at VCU in the team's first road match of the year Tuesday afternoon at the Thalhimer Tennis Center.

VCU improved to 8-7, while the Dukes saw their three-match win streak end, dropping to 6-2.

In doubles play, JMU came from behind on courts one and two, which included a tiebreak situation to decide the doubles point.

Jona Roka beat Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado and Noumea Witmus by a score of 7-5 on court two. On court one, redshirt sophomore
Daria Afanasyeva and redshirt senior
Alexis Franco won in a tiebreak over Luminita Tutunaru and Gabriela Ana-Maria Davidescu, 7-6(4) to clinch doubles, giving JMU a 1-0 lead.

Transitioning to singles, after VCU tied the match at 1-1, Moulin earned her second win of the day, downing Davidescu, 6-3, 7-5, on court four.

VCU would go on to win the next three singles matches to clinch the match, with JMU forcing tiebreaks at both #1 and #2 singles.

Redshirt sophomore
Daniela Voloh finished strong, defeating Shivani Manjanna in three sets, 6-2, 5-7, 6-0, on court six. With the win, Voloh moved to 6-0 in singles matches this year.
