WILMINGTON, N.C. – James Madison women's tennis opened its conference road-trip weekend with a solid 7-0 victory at UNCW on Friday afternoon at the UNCW Courts.

The Dukes improved to 7-2 on the year and 3-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while the Seahawks fell to 5-7 and 0-1. JMU won for the fifth consecutive time against UNCW, evening the all-time series at 14-14.

The Dukes swept doubles play and won four of six singles bouts in straight sets.

In doubles, the team of redshirt sophomore
Kylie Moulin and redshirt senior
Jona Roka, ranked 76th nationally, gave JMU the early advantage with a 6-2 win on court two against Sarah Horn and Charlotte Madson.

The Dukes clinched the doubles point on court three, redshirt sophomores
Natalia Nikolopoulou and
Amanda Nord downed Brinley Bell and Anna Daniels, 6-4. Redshirt sophomore
Daria Afanasyeva and redshirt senior
Alexis Franco completed the sweep with a 7-5 win over Maddy Muller-Hughes and Anna Parker-Shumate on court one.

Switching over to singles play, JMU went up 2-0 after a dominant win on court three, as Nikolopoulou rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Muller-Hughes. The lead extended to 3-0 on court five when Franco took down Zoe Hudson, 6-1, 6-2.

JMU secured the team victory on court one, with Afanasyeva beating Celeste Matute by scores of 6-1, 6-1. Moulin also won in straight sets, defeating Rachel Marthinsen, 6-4, 6-0, on court four to make it a 5-0 lead.

Redshirt sophomore
Michelle Los Arcos picked up her first singles victory of the year in come-from-behind fashion. After dropping the first set, she bounced back for a 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 win on court six versus Bell.

Closing out the day was Roka, who outlasted Madson on court two in a super tiebreaker. She won her match by scores of 6-4, 5-7, 1-0(5).
