RICHMOND, Va. – Following a record-setting weekend, James Madison redshirt senior kicker Ethan Ratkehas been named Colonial Athletic Association Football Special Teams Player of the Week.
Ratke became the CAA's all-time leader in career field goals in JMU's 23-6 victory on Saturday against Richmond.
He converted three field goals and added a pair of extra points to finish with 11 points on the day. His first quarter field goal from 27 yards out was his 65th, as he surpassed Towson's Aidan O'Neill, who made 64 with the Tigers.
The Mechanicsville, Va., native currently sits at 67 career field goals, which is tied for seventh in FCS history. He needs just nine more field goals to set the career national record. In addition to field goals, Ratke, who also has more career points than any CAA kicker in history, is tied for 10th in FCS history with 366 points.
Ratke and the Dukes begin postseason play on Saturday, April 24 when No. 3 seed JMU hosts VMI in the first round. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Bridgeforth Stadium.
