Towson, Md. – James Madison volleyball battled Northeastern but fell 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 18-25, 21-25) in the Colonial Athletic Association Semifinals on Friday night at the SECU Arena.
JMU was led by
Sophia Davis and
Caitlyn Meyer who each racked up 14 kills. Davis recorded a .344 hitting percentage while adding on two solo blocks as well.
Rebecca Frye posted four kills, 13 digs and one block.
Karis Beasley  helped the Dukes in all areas with three kills, three assists, 16 digs and one solo block.
Set 1
The Dukes claimed the lead early, capitalizing on Northeastern's errors to lead 9-4 at the first timeout by the Huskies. Davis helped the Dukes keep their lead with two kills while JMU continued to take advantage of the Huskies' errors, leading 14-10 at the second timeout.

Caroline Dozier snuck an attack to end a 4-0 run by the Huskies to make it 15-14. Meyer followed with a kill to tack on another point for the Dukes. The Huskies fought back making it 19-19. Davis threw down another kill to keep the Dukes in the set, 21-21. Beasley recorded a kill to push JMU to 24-23, as the Dukes won on an error by the Huskies, 25-23.
Davis finished the set with three kills and two solo blocks. Dozier recorded eight assists, one kill and one dig.

JMU took another early lead, 7-3, capitalizing on the Huskies' attacking errors forcing Northeastern to take a timeout. Out of the huddle, Beasley recorded her second service ace of the set and third of the match. Frye recorded a big kill for a moment shift to push JMU to a 10-5 lead. Davis added on two more kills to increase the Dukes lead to 13-8.
Northeastern fought back as they threw down their own kill, while JMU had multiple attacking errors, to tie the set at 14-14. The teams traded points until the Huskies took the lead at 21-19, forcing JMU to take a timeout.

The Dukes caught momentum late after a service ace from Frye followed by a kill from Davis to cut the Huskies lead to 24-23. It wasn't enough as the Dukes fell 25-23 to the Huskies. Meyer led the Dukes with four kills and one block.

Set 3
The teams traded points back and forth keeping the match tied at 4-4. The Huskies went on a run to lead 20-11, capitalizing on the Dukes' errors.
Dozier recorded two service aces in a row to cut the Huskies' lead, 20-15. Meyer followed with a kill to cut the lead to four points.
Hannah Roberts threw down another kill in the Dukes' run but it wasn't enough as the Huskies won 25-18 to lead 2-1 in the match.
Meyer recorded a .333 hitting percentage with five kills and one block. Dozier had one kills, seven assists and five digs.
Set 4
Northeastern took an early 5-2 lead as JMU could not respond to their offense, forcing the Dukes to take a timeout. Davis recorded a kill to try to start the offense for the Dukes, but Northeastern went on a 3-0 run to make it 12-6 and force the Dukes into another timeout.
The teams traded points, but Northeastern kept the lead at 20-15. JMU found momentum off of two Huskies errors, followed by a kill from Meyer to get it to 22-20. The Huskies recorded back-to-back kills and Davis answered with one of her own, but it wasn't enough as Northeastern captured the set 25-21 to win the match 3-1 over JMU.
