HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison women's tennis swept all six singles matches to earn a 6-1 non-conference victory against Marshall Friday afternoon at the Hillside Courts.

The Dukes improved to 10-3, while the Thundering Herd fell to 6-6.

In doubles play, Marshall won the first game on court three. Redshirt sophomore
Daria Afanasyeva and redshirt senior
Alexis Franco tied it up for the Dukes with a 6-4 victory on court one over Liz Stefancic and Jutte Van Hansewyck.

After falling behind, 5-1, redshirt sophomore
Kylie Moulin and redshirt senior
Jona Roka won four straight games to tie it at 5-5. However, Marshall secured the doubles point with a 7-5 victory on court two to clinch the doubles point.

JMU turned it around in singles play winning five of its six singles matches in straight sets.

Redshirt sophomore
Daniela Voloh finished first on court six, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Madison Riley. Franco was not far behind, beating Van Hansewyck, 6-2, 6-4, on court five to give JMU a 2-1 match lead.

Once ahead, the Dukes never looked back. On court two, Roka extended the lead by beating Daniela Dankanych, 6-1, 6-3.

JMU clinched the team victory on court three, as redshirt sophomore
Natalia Nikolopoulou secured the Dukes' 10th win with a 6-3, 7-5 triumph versus Madi Ballow.

Afanasyeva added a straight-set victory on court one, downing Anna Smith, 7-5, 6-2. She now has an 8-4 record in singles play on the year while playing at the top singles spot.

The final point of the match was by way of Moulin on court four. She outlasted Stefancic after putting together a solid third set en route to 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory.
