Dougherty Earns USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Honor

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison goalkeeper Molly Dougherty was named a USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I Third Team All-American, the publication announced this week.

It's the third All-America honor of Dougherty's career, as she is also a two-time Honorable Mention All-American from Inside Lacrosse.

In 16 starts this spring, Dougherty recorded an 8.71 goals against average after making 135 saves with a .506 save percentage. She ranked seventh nationally in GAA and ninth in save percentage, which was also second in the Colonial Athletic Association. She also ranked second in the conference with 8.44 saves per game.

A three-time Tewaaraton Award Watch List selection, Dougherty was named Second Team All-CAA this year. She was named National Player of the Week by USA Lacrosse and the Baltimore Sun and National Defensive Player of the Week by IWLCA after her performance in the CAA Championship, which earned her Most Outstanding Performer accolades.

She had seven games with double-digit saves, including a season-high 16 in the CAA title game against Drexel and 14 at Elon in the CAA opener. She also had double-digit stops against both North Carolina and Virginia during the regular season.

Dougherty, who has one year of eligibility remaining at JMU, turns her attention to tryout camp for the U.S. women's national team. She will attempt to earn a roster spot for the 2022 World Lacrosse Women's World Championship, with tryouts taking place June 9-11. She will be joined by former teammate and current assistant coach Haley Warden at the camp.
