Johnson and Peterson Earn IWLCA All-Region Accolades

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – James Madison defender Emma Johnson and attacker Isabella Peterson were both named to IWLCA Division All-Region Team, as the duo earned Second Team All-South Region honors.

It's the first IWLCA All-Region award for both players.

Johnson was named Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-CAA selection after leading one of the nation's top defenses. The Tewaaraton Award Watch List member led the Dukes with 30 caused turnovers and 44 ground balls. She led the league and ranked top 50 nationally in ground balls per game (2.59) and was second in the CAA and 33rd in Division I in caused turnovers per outing (1.71).

The two-time CAA Defensive Player of the Week ended her career as JMU's all-time leader in career caused turnovers, with 126, and is second all-time with 176 career ground balls.

Peterson led the Dukes in scoring for the second straight season, earning First Team All-CAA and CAA All-Rookie Team honors. She recorded 45 goals and 11 assists for 56 points, to go with 48 draw controls. A three-time CAA Rookie of the Week ranked top 10 in the conference in three categories, as she was seventh in goals (2.81), eighth in points (3.5) and ninth in draws (3.0).

Johnson and Peterson are two of 128 student-athletes honored across Division I and are eligible to be named to the national IWLCA All-America Team, which will be announced in June.
