Alissa Humphrey Earns Spot on USA U-18 Roster

OKLAHOMA CITY – James Madison softball's Alissa Humphrey has been selected to the 2021 USA Softball U-18 Junior Women's National Team as announced by the JWNT Selection Committee.

Humphrey makes the roster as a replacement player after completing a two-day selection trial process held at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Due to the postponement of the World Baseball Softball Confederation U-18 World Cup, which was originally scheduled to take place in August 2020, the WBSC extended the age eligibility to allow athletes who were eligible for the 2020 event with the opportunity to participate in the rescheduled event this year.

The Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year dominated in the circle as she made 22 appearances with 15 starts. The All-CAA First Team selection tossed 94.1 innings, striking out 141 batters which included six double-digit strikeout performances.

Humphrey also engraved her name into the record book as she set the program record for most no-hitters in a single season with five. During the season, she was tabbed the CAA Pitcher of the Week three times (3/16, 3/30, 4/13) and CAA Rookie of the Week twice (4/27, 5/4).

During the team's push to the Women's College World Series, Humphrey was named to the NFCA Northeast All-Region First Team and was placed on the Schutt Sports/NFCA DI National Freshman of the Year Top 15 List.

The USA JWNT will compete at the WBSC U-18 World Cup in Lima, Peru from Aug. 28 – Sept. 5 and the Junior Pan American Games in Barranquilla, Columbia from Nov. 25 – Dec. 5. For more information on USA Softball visit USASoftball.com.
