Deel, Wiseman Earn Preseason All-Conference Nods

RICHMOND, Va. – James Madison forward Ginger Deel and midfielder Ebony Wiseman earned honorable mention nods on the 2021 Preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association Women's Soccer Team, the league announced Thursday afternoon. The Dukes were picked to finish fifth in the league this fall.

Hofstra was the consensus preseason favorite, earning nine first-place votes. Elon received the other first-place vote, and is followed by UNCW, Northeastern, and JMU to round out the top five.

Deel started and played in four games for JMU during the spring, connecting for two goals and assisting on two more for a total of six points. She led the team in all three categories and tied for the team lead in shots on goal (four).

Wiseman played in four matches, starting in three of them. She scored once against UNCW and assisted on a goal against Charleston for three overall points. She took six shots and placed four on goal, tying for second and first on the team in each category, respectively.

The Dukes look to open up their 32nd season on Thursday, August 19 as they travel to VCU. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
