TOWSON, Md. — Despite two Dukes recording double-doubles, the James Madison women's basketball team fell 79-70 at Towson Sunday afternoon at SECU Arena. JMU falls to 6-8 (2-1 CAA) on the year while Towson improves to 12-2 (3-0 CAA).
Kiki Jefferson led the Dukes in scoring with 19 points while pulling down 10 boards for her third double-double of the season.
Jaylin Carodine recorded her second career double-double and her first of the season with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Today's performance marks the fourth 15-rebound game for Carodine this year.
Towson was led by Allie Kubek and Anissa Rivera, who combined for 48 points. Kubek ended the day shooting 61.1% (11-18) from the floor.

- The Dukes struggled in the first quarter, shooting just 22.2% (4-18) from the floor and 12.5% (1-8) from three while Towson shot over 40% in both categories.
- JMU led 7-5 before Towson ended the quarter on a 13-2 run to lead 18-9 after 10 minutes of action.
Second Quarter: Towson 34, JMU 31
- The Dukes opened the second quarter on a 9-0 run to tie it at 18.
- Towson did not score until 6:39 when they used a second-chance layup to take back the lead.
- The team traded buckets for the remainder of the quarter as JMU tied it up five times but never took a lead.
- Despite trailing by three at the half, the Dukes outscored Towson 22-16 in the second stanza.
Third Quarter: Towson 60, JMU 51
- The Tigers shot 52.9% (9-17) from the floor and 60% (3-5) from long range as they outscored JMU 26-23 following the break.
- JMU saw their first lead since the first quarter at 7:58 on a made jumper by Jefferson to make it 40-39, but Towson quickly responded with a jumper of their own to go back up by one.
- Towson's Rivera was unstoppable in the third quarter, scoring 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including a pair of triples.
Fourth Quarter: Towson 79, JMU 70
- The Dukes controlled the boards in the final frame, 14-10.
- JMU registered a trio of three-pointers as they shot an overall 42.1% in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to put the Dukes back on top.
