ATLANTA – 
Miëtte Veldman recorded her fourth double-double of the season in James Madison volleyball's 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-19) win over Georgia State on Saturday afternoon at the GSU Sports Arena.
 
The Dukes improve to 13-4 (7-1 SBC) while the Panthers fell to 5-15 (1-7 SBC)
 
Veldman recorded 21 kills and 14 digs for her double-double. 
Caroline Dozier tallied 45 assists for a total of 98 on the weekend. 
Elizabeth Helmich followed Veldman with 12 kills, while 
Sophie Davis had 4 blocks.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
The Panthers had a strong first set and were able to hold the lead for the entirety of the set.  The Dukes made a small come back towards the end, but the Panthers held their ground.
 
Second Set
It started off evenly in the second set, but two 3-0 runs put the Dukes up 15-10. JMU maintained that lead with a 5-0 run, but the Panthers responded right after with a 5-0 run of their own. A kill from Helmich wrapped up the set to tie the match.
 
Third Set
Georgia State stayed a few points ahead for a majority of the third set, but JMU put together a 6-0 run with four kills from Veldman to take a 19-14 lead and took the lead in the match.
 
Fourth Set
Taking control of the set, Georgia State went up 10-3 early on. The Dukes responded with a 8-1 run to tie the set 11-11. The rest of the set was close until JMU broke away with a 6-1 run to take the match after losing the first set.
 
UP NEXT
The Dukes are back home to take on Coastal Carolina on Thursday and Friday next week. Friday's match against the Chanticleers will be streamed on ESPN+.
