HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison volleyball earned the 2022 Sun Belt Regular Season Champions title on senior day in their 3-0 sweep (28-26, 25-22, 25-23) over reigning conference champions South Alabama on Saturday afternoon in the final match at Godwin Hall.

The Dukes wrapped up the regular season 21-4 (15-1) while the Jaguars finished 16-12 (10-6).

JMU hit .277, with
Cameryn Jones hitting .677 with 14 kills and zero errors.
Miëtte Veldman led in kills with 16, while Jones led in blocks with six.
Caroline Dozier tallied 37 assists and 12 digs for her first double-double of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
South Alabama took a 8-5 lead after going on a 5-0 run. The Dukes were down 19-14, but with multiple small runs, were able to tie it up 23-23. JMU kept the battle going, wrapping up the set with a 3-0 run to take it 28-26.

Second Set
The set started off evenly, but South Alabama went on a 7-0 run to take a 14-9 lead. JMU responded with a 9-1 run to secure a lead. A final ace from Madilyn O'Toole gave the Dukes a 2-0 lead in the match.

Third Set
The Dukes broke out ahead 6-4, but the Jaguars went on a 3-0 run to take the lead. The score remained neck and neck, but a final 5-1 run gave JMU the sweep.

Danielle Nathan on senior day, as well as team manager Justin Willett and assistant athletic trainer Emma Smith
