JMU Nation,
Happy Holidays from all of us at JMU Athletics! At this time of year, it's customary to reflect upon the year behind us, and what a year 2022 has been for our Dukes!
One year ago at this time, we were only a few weeks removed from our announcement to join the Sun Belt. Twelve months later, we
finished first in the Sun Belt's East Division in football, have completed a full season of ESPN+ broadcasts, participated in the championship game in every Fall sport for which JMU was eligible, won our
first conference title in volleyball,
earned top academic honors from the league and currently stand on top of the league's standings for
The Bubas Cup, which measures success across all sports. In addition, both basketball programs are a combined 15-5 and rank near the top of the league in the early NCAA NET rankings.
The balanced success of JMU Athletics has continued in the Sun Belt and congratulations are due for all involved: our student-athletes, coaches, staff and you, our faithful members of JMU Nation! We're incredibly proud of these accomplishments. As we've said before, competitive opportunities for our student-athletes are made possible by your support. As we close 2022, please consider the
JMU Duke Club in your end-of-year giving to support JMU student-athlete scholarships, facility improvements and more!
Updates to Duke Club Benefits Chart and Reseating/Reparking
As we build upon the success of our transitional FBS season in 2022 and first Sun Belt campaign, it's clear that interest in JMU Athletics has never been greater. It's a critical time as we are already turning the page to our winter and springs sports along with preparation for the 2023 fall season. As we look ahead, it's important that we maximize our revenue potential, balance supply with demand and honor our normal four-year intervals for pricing and benefit changes.
With demand for attending JMU football increasing and coinciding with the rising cost of operations, there are increases to giving levels within our Duke Club benefits chart for the Proud and True Fund. These giving levels determine eligibility for various seating and parking locations as well as added benefits of giving to JMU Athletics. The 2023 season falls within our normal rotation of four years for updates to this chart and for fans to select new seats and new parking. While many giving levels have increased for the 2023 season, there are also new donor benefits to accompany increased giving.
I encourage everyone to review the updated benefits chart below along with a more detailed FAQ document posted to
JMUDukeClub.com. If you have questions about these updates, please contact a member of the JMU Duke Club staff.
Beginning with the 2023 season, a minimum gift of $75 to the Proud and True Fund is required to receive reserved season parking, regardless of your season ticket status. Keep in mind, donations to the Proud and True Fund benefit all student-athletes in all sports in terms of scholarships and other costs.
We are close to finalizing pricing structures for 2023 season tickets and will release that information in early 2023. The full football schedule should be finalized in early March with the annual announcement of the Sun Belt's league schedule. While our 2022 home slate consisted entirely of Saturdays, fans should be aware that, moving forward, there is a reasonable likelihood of at least one of our six home games being moved to midweek by ESPN and the conference for national television exposure.
More details about reseating and reparking will be sent to Duke Club members in early 2023.
Offseason Game Day Fan Survey
As I previously mentioned, we are already hard at work preparing for 2023 JMU football. There was so much to celebrate from the 2022 season, and yet, we are acutely aware that we have areas for improvement to provide a first-class game day experience at Bridgeforth Stadium. Last week, we launched our annual fan survey. Many of you have already sent feedback directly to members of our staff, but I encourage everyone to participate in this survey so that your feedback is collected. It's a critical offseason in many regards, and it's imperative that your voice is heard in this process. We truly read every response and consider all feedback. Simply put, without our fans, game day at Bridgeforth Stadium cannot be successful. If you attended a game this fall, please check your email and respond to the request from JMU Athletics for your game day feedback. The sooner we collect this information, the more time we have to implement improvements.
On behalf of everyone at JMU Athletics, we wish you and your family the very best during this peaceful and reflective time of year. I can't wait to see you at the Atlantic Union Bank Center for basketball and our other venues coming up in the spring!
Go Dukes!
