THE DUKES
- James Madison women's basketball remains on the road as they head down I-64 to face Hampton on Dec. 17. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will be streamed on FloSports.
- The Dukes are coming off a strong 75-60 win over William & Mary (Dec. 11), out-rebounding the Tribe 53-31. JMU has now defeated W&M in nine straight contests dating back to 2018.
- Senior Kiki Jefferson and junior Peyton McDaniel both finished with 17 points at William & Mary, while classmate Claire Neff chipped in with 11 on 4-of-9 (44.4%). Fellow junior Kseniia Kozlova recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and career-high 10 rebounds.
- Junior Jamia Hazell also had a strong game against the Tribe, registering eight points, tying her career-high with eight rebounds, recording a career-high two blocks, and dishing out five assists.
- James Madison ranks in the top 40 nationally in five categories: rebound margin (7th - +12.8), rebounds per game (24th - 44.00), field goal percentage defense (26th - 34.9), field goals made per game (34th - 15.11) and defensive rebounds per game (35th - 29.2).
- Additionally, Jefferson boasts three top-25 marks in Division I: points per game (22nd - 20.6), free throws made (15th - 55) and free throws attempted (19th - 69).
- A win on Saturday would give the Dukes an 8-2 record, the program's best start since going 11-2 in the 2019-20 campaign.
SCOUTING THE LADY PIRATES
- Hampton owns a 3-5 record and has lost five of its last six contests.
- Last time out, the Lady Pirates fell on the road to Rutgers, 76-68, on Dec. 10. Nylah Young and Camryn Hill led HU with 21 and 20 points, respectively.
- Hill averages 16.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per outing, pacing the team in both categories.
- The Lady Pirates rank in the top 10 nationally in three categories: turnover margin (2nd - +10.88), turnovers forced (8th - 24.75) and steals per game (9th - 13.5)
SERIES HISTORY
- JMU leads the all-time series 6-2 and has won four of the last five meetings.
- The last time these teams met, the Dukes knocked down 10 three-pointers to top Hampton 78-60 at home, on Nov. 21, 2021. Four Dukes scored in double-digits: Jamia Hazell (16), Kiki Jefferson (13), Steph Ouderkirk (11) and Brianna Tinsley (10).
