ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The James Madison swim and dive team rode record performances and career days for multiple swimmers as they were atop the standings at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships after the first day at Lejeune Hall.

The Dukes scored 223 points in the 17-team field during the opening day, 52 points ahead of the next team.

How It Happened

Lauren Aylmer swam a lifetime best time of 2:06.96 in the prelims of the 200 IM.

Karen Siddoway (23.33),
Emily Drakopoulos (23.66), and
Alaina Park (23.49) all swam lifetime best times in the 50 Free prelims.
- In the 500 Free,
Emily Visscher,
Erin Jachym, and
Emily Wisniewski swam lifetime best times of 4:57.67, 5:01.42, 5:08.12, respectively.

Alexa Holloway scored her third NCAA Zona qualifying score in the 3-meter this season, recording a 284.40.
- A new school record was set in the 200 IM, as
Jess Pryne won the event and recorded a time of 1:58.97 to break the nine-year old record. Pryne's time was also an NCAA B cut time, the first B cut time recorded by a Duke since
Madison Cottrell recorded one in the 200 Back last season.
- Also placing in the 200 IM was
Cameron Gring, who finished third with a time of 2:02.66.

Grace Bousum finished fifth in the 200 IM with the eighth fastest time in program history at 2:03.18. The time is also a lifetime best time.
- In the 500 Free prelims,
Abby Maguire set a lifetime best time and then broke that time as she swam a 4:56.75 in the finals.
- Taking third in the 50 Free was
Jordyn Schnell, who swam a time of 23.45.
- The team of Schnell, Park, Siddoway, and Gring took second in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:31.97. The time is the seventh fastest in program history in the event.
- Also placing second in a relay was the team of Gring,
Abby Zindler, Cottrell, and Schnell in the 400 Medley Relay. They swam a time of 3:42.84, which is the tenth fastest time in program history.

The Dukes continue competing in the ECAC Championships with day two on Saturday, Feb. 26. Prelims for swimming start at 10 a.m. with finals at 6 p.m. The 1-meter board will begin at 12 p.m.
