ANNAPOLIS, Md. – A pair of program records fell to highlight the James Madison swimming and diving efforts on the second day of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Lejeune Hall.
Sophomore
Jess Pryne set the record for the 400 IM while classmate
Madison Cottrell is now the record holder of the 100 Fly.
The Dukes have scored 451 points through the first two days, leading the 19-team field by 11.5 points.
How It Happened
- After originally setting the record for the 400 IM in the prelims with a time of 4:14.07, Pryne then outdid herself and swam an NCAA B cut time of 4:12.64 in the finals to win the event and set the record once more.
- After tying for the top spot in the 100 Fly in the prelims, Cottrell then won the event in the finals with an NCAA B cut time of 53.34 and set the program record along with it.
- The Dukes had six different swimmers qualify for the finals in both the 200 Free and 100 Back.
- In the 200 Free,
Grace Bousum took third with a lifetime best time of 1:49.85.
Emily Visscher and
Jordyn Schnell both finished in the top eight with times of 1:50.07 and 1:51.29, respectively. Visscher's time was a lifetime best and Schnell's time of 1:49.98 in the prelims was a lifetime best.
- Cottrell picked up her second win of the night, swimming a time of 54.29 in the 100 Back. Her time is the second fastest time in program history for the event. Also placing in the 100 Back was
Cameron Gring, who swam the third fastest time in program history at 54.62 to take third.

Alaina Park (55.62) and
Lauren Aylmer (56.31) joined Cottrell and Gring in the top eight of the 100 Back finals.
- The team of Pryne,
Karen Siddoway,
Grace Bousum, and Schnell won the 800 Free Relay, finishing with a time of 7:21.86. The time put the team at tenth best in program history and Pryne's leadoff leg was a 200 Free lifetime best time.
- The 200 Medley Relay team of Gring,
Devan Taylor, Cottrell, and Schnell finished with the eighth best time in program history in their time trial at 1:41.62.
- In the diving portion of the day, three Dukes earned NCAA Zone qualifying scores in the 1-meter.
Maddie Yager scored a 292.70,
Alexa Holloway scored a 269.55, and
Lindsey Hammar scored a 265.70.
- Yager's score was her seventh qualifying score on the 1-meter board this season.
With the completion of the diving portion of the championships, diving coach
John Wolsh says, "overall the JMU divers were the strongest group of divers in the meet and we had some exceptional performances.

Maddie Yager especially had some great dives. Between the three of them, they had four NCAA Zone qualifying scores."
