NEWARK, Del. – James Madison baseball scored the first run of the game, but Delaware scored nine unanswered runs to take the series finale, 11-5, on Sunday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium.

The Dukes fall to 13-10, 2-1 while the Blue Hens are now 11-10, 1-2.

Ryan Murphy got the start and went three-plus innings, striking out three. At the plate, redshirt sophomore
Chase DeLauter led the Dukes by going 1-for-4 with a run scored, a double, a walk, and two RBI's.

How It Happened
Redshirt junior
Trevon Dabney led off the game with a double to right center and was followed by DeLauter who was intentionally walked, his sixth walk of the series. Redshirt junior
Kyle Novak then singled to left field to score Dabney and make it 1-0 in favor of JMU.

Delaware then responded in the bottom of the third on a one-out double and then a two-run homer to lead 3-1. The Blue Hens then extended their lead to 8-1 in the fourth inning on a pair of singles, a two-run double, and a sacrifice fly. A ninth straight Delaware run was scored in the fifth on a wild pitch.

JMU would not go down quietly though, as they scored four runs in the top of the sixth. The Dukes were able to break the UD stretch of runs by scoring one on a throwing error to make it 9-2. DeLauter then hit a double into the left center gap to score two and then was brought home himself on redshirt junior
Carson Bell's single to make it 9-5.

The Blue Hens would get a run back in the seventh and eighth innings to lead 11-5. There was a brief weather delay during the bottom of the eighth, but Delaware would hold on for the win. Zach Klapek earned the victory, tossing 2.2 innings of relief with four strikeouts.
