TEMPE, Az. – James Madison junior
Holden Koons was recognized for his off-court achievements on Monday, as he was selected as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced.
Â
It's the third straight year Koons has been named Scholar-Athlete. Koons turned in a 3.53 grade-point average for the 2021-22 academic campaign as he pursues his finance degree at JMU. Earlier this year, he was also named JMU's Casey Carter Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Â
To be eligible for Scholar-Athlete status, an individual must have at least a 3.5 GPA in a current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
Â
On court, Koons was voted the program's first Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year after going 29-10 in singles and 19-13 in doubles play. The Dukes went 14-6 as a team this past spring.
