HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison football will hold walk-on tryouts on Friday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. at Bridgeforth Stadium.

The tryout is open to any full-time James Madison University student. All potential walk-on candidates are encouraged to be fully vaccinated prior to the tryout and will enter the facility through Gate B between Bridgeforth Stadium and Godwin Hall.

To be eligible, JMU students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours in the fall and be within five years of initial collegiate enrollment.
 Documents Required Prior to Tryouts
Copy of student's 2022 fall class schedule, verifying full-time enrollment
Copy of a physical exam conducted within 60 days of the tryout date (must state cleared to participate)
Copy of front and back of medical insurance card (insurance waiver or self-pay will not be accepted)
Copy of Sickle Cell Test Results

Tryout candidates MUST email all document to Ryland Powell at powellrs@jmu.edu no later than Monday, August 22.

Candidates that complete these steps above will be emailed back a tryout approval form that MUST be filled out by the student, JMU Athletics Sport Medicine Staff and JMU Athletics Compliance Staff to receive final approval to tryout. Specific instructions on completing the tryout approval form will be sent out at a later date.

Those who do not have the above information submitted by Monday, August 22 will not be permitted to tryout.

Participants must meet NCAA eligibility standards and agree and comply with the James Madison and NCAA drug testing policy.
