Fourth Straight Shutout Leads Dukes to Win Over La Salle

PHILADELPHIA – James Madison women's soccer recorded a shutout for the fourth time in as many games as they took down La Salle, 2-0, on Sunday evening at McCarthy Stadium.

The Dukes move to 3-0-1, their best start to a season since starting 4-0 in 2007, while the Explorers take their first loss of the season and drop to 3-1.

Sophomore Amanda Attanasi and senior Lidia Nduka both scored goals and assisted on each other's goal. Attanasi has now scored in three consecutive matches, the first Duke to do so since Ginger Deel in 2019. Redshirt junior Alexandra Blom recorded her second shutout of the season, making eight saves in the match.

How It Happened
- Â The Dukes were able to get out on top first in the 11th minute, as Attanasi took a pass from Nduka in the box to score her third goal of the season.
- La Salle fired off a shot in response in the 14th minute, missing wide right.
- Blom picked up saves in the 34th and 43rd minutes to keep the Explorers off the board.
- Blom picked up her third save of the night in the 50th minute, which in turn led to Attanasi receiving the ball and shooting a pass down to Nduka who controlled it and sent it into the back of the net to put JMU up 2-0.
- In a 37 second span in the 65th minute, Blom made a pair of saves in between an Explorers corner kick.
- Blom came up big in the final ten minutes of the match, making three more saves that included one in the 90th minute.
Game Notes
- The Explorers outshot the Dukes 15-5 and held an 8-3 advantage on corner kicks.
- Both of JMU's shots on goal found the back of the net.
- Blom's eight saves are the third most in a single game in her career. It is the most she has recorded since saving eight shots against Hofstra last year in the regular season.
