Munson Named to National Team of the Week

HARRISONBURG, Va. — James Madison defender Brittany Munson has been named to the National Team of the Week for women's soccer, released by TopDrawerSoccer Tuesday morning.

This is the first national weekly honor for the redshirt junior in her career.

Munson was key on the back line for a JMU team that earned a pair of shutout wins to move to 3-0-1 on the season. It is the best start to the season since starting 4-0 in 2007 and the first time ever starting a season with four shutouts.

The Dukes have yet to concede a goal this season, tying the program record for consecutive shutouts at any point in a season. To begin the week, they took down Charlotte, 1-0, and only allowed the 49ers to take five shots. They then ended the week by giving La Salle its first loss and shutout of the season by coming away with a 2-0 victory.

The Dukes return to play on Thursday, Sept. 1 to end a four-match road trip at Virginia, who TopDrawerSoccer has ranked the No. 1 team in the country. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
