ORLANDO, Fla. - The James Madison Cheerleading program traveled to Walt Disney World to compete in the UCA College Cheer Nationals on Friday Jan. 13, 2023. The Dukes placed 16th
in the Cheer Division 1A at the FBS level.
Â
The squad participated at the Division I level for the first time in JMU Cheer history. Teams in its division included Notre Dame, LSU, Memphis, Penn State, Iowa, and other historically strong Power 5 programs.
"This will definitely be a tough division moving forward as we set out to make our presence known," Head Coach
Tony Morris said. "But we are ready for the challenge."
Â
The Dukes competed their three-minute and thirty-second routine with high energy and did not note any miscues during their routine. They only received one deduction point from the judges.
The Cincinnati Bearcats took home the gold for the second year in a row.
