Following a challenging but successful two-game road trip to kick off the 2023-24 season, James Madison University's Men's Basketball is back in Harrisonburg for its home opener against the Howard Bison on Sunday, Nov. 12. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m. at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
Homeward Bound
- JMU (2-0) is eager to play in front of a home crowd for the first time this season. After intense matchups on the road against #4 Michigan State and Kent State, both ending in overtime victories, the Dukes are anticipating a warm welcome from their fans at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
- Their 113 points at Kent State on Thursday were the 10th-most in a single game in program history, while the game's total of 221 points was third most in program history.
- In the history of this matchup, JMU holds a 3-1 advantage over Howard. Last season, JMU was 11-3 at home, while Howard was 6-8 on the road.
Player Spotlight
- Terrence Edwards Jr. has been a standout performer, leading the country in minutes played (85:35) and contributing significantly with 49 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists in his first two games. His 49 total points ranks seventh in the NCAA, while his 16 made free throws put him in the top five.
- Edwards Jr. and T.J. Bickerstaff have both recorded double-doubles for the Dukes. Bickerstaff grabbed 14 rebounds to go with 21 points on 61.5% shooting at Michigan State.

- Another player to watch is Raekwon Horton, who has a knack for clutch moments. In both games, he made three-pointers during key moments of the overtime periods.
- Noah Freidel's name has also been a part of the lore that surrounds this team. Versus Kent State, he scored five points in the final 3.8 seconds of regulation to force overtime.
- Xavier Brown scored 16 points and drew a crucial foul while Kent State was inbounding to win back the ball for the Dukes, setting up Freidel's heroics.
