QUICK HITS
- James Madison men's basketball will wrap up its first regular season in the Sun Belt Conference on Friday night, taking on Georgia State at the Atlantic Union Bank Center. Tip will be at 8 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
- The Dukes dropped into fourth place in the standings after Wednesday's defeat against Marshall. JMU will either finish in third or fourth place in the regular season standings, needing a win and a Louisiana loss to move back into third.
- JMU battled with Marshall to the tune of 18 lead changes and were within a possession when the final minute started. Wednesday's game was kept close thanks to Atlanta native Terrence Edwards, who had his most points of the season with 26 and tied a career high with 11 rebounds. Edwards leads the team with 12.9 points per game this season.
- Edwards, Vado Morse (12.1), Takal Molson (11.0) and Mezie Offurum (10.4) all average double-figures for JMU. JMU is one of four teams in the Sun Belt with at least four double-digit scorers, joining Coastal Carolina, Georgia State and Troy.
- After just four double-digit scoring efforts in his first 10 Sun Belt games, Molson has scored in double figures in six of JMU's last seven. He has averaged 13.2 points in that stretch and shot 50% from the field.
- The Dukes have played in seven consecutive games decided by single digits, going 5-2 in that stretch. This is the longest run of consecutive games within 10 points since eight straight during the 2017-18 season.
- The Dukes have at least three blocks in each of their last five games, the first such stretch under Mark Byington.
- JMU has gotten offensive contributions from everyone throughout the season, averaging 32.7 bench points per game, fourth-most in the country. Wednesday's 43 points against Marshall marked the eighth time this season the bench contributed at least 40 points.
- Redshirt junior Julien Wooden has been consistent from the floor as of late, shooting 48.6% and making at least three field goals in all of JMU's February games. He has also made 15 of his 27 three-pointers this month.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
- Georgia State has dropped six straight and is currently tied for 13th at 3-14 in the Sun Belt standings.
- Sophomores Dwon Odom and Collin Moore each average 13.0 points to lead the Panthers.
- Georgia State has been cold from beyond the arc, ranking 334th in Division I in three-pointers made (5.4).
