HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison softball earned a 9-2 victory against Coppin State on Friday afternoon during its second game of the LD&B Invitational at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Dukes improved to 12-5 on the year, while the Eagles fell to 2-6.

Sophomore
Lexi Rogers got the start in the circle for James Madison and threw 2.1 innings of work. Rogers recorded four strikeouts, three hits, and one walk. Freshman
Kylah Berry entered the contest in the top of the third inning and completed the game with 4.2 scoreless innings while noting seven strikeouts and two walks without allowing a hit.

Abbie Campbell led the offense going 2-for-2 each, while graduate student
Hannah Shifflett had a single and scored once while driving in two runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- James Madison got on the scoreboard first when Shifflett doubled to score two runs in the bottom of the second inning.
- Coppin State tied things at two with a two-run home run in the third.
- Hennessy broke things open when she added a two-run home run to put the Dukes ahead by two runs.
- Mathis followed it up with yet another two-run home run to increase the lead to four.
- Shifflett scored another run from Coppin State's effort to throw out a potential runner at second base.
- Abbie Campbell added the Dukes final runs when she singled, plating Lily Romero and Sanders in the bottom of the sixth.
