MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- James Madison track & field saw two Dukes produce scoring efforts on day one of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium Thursday night.
Senior
Shelby Staib notched a third-place finish in the javelin competition with a heave of 47.60 meters (156' - 2"), earning six team points for the Dukes. On the track, sophomore
Sierra Puleo ran in her first 10,000-meter race, crossing the finish line in 39:33.97 for seventh.
Altogether, Staib and Puleo picked up eight points as JMU sits in fourth in the team standings, trailing Slipper Rocky (12 points) in third. Duke has tallied 27 points through the meet's first two events for first.
