CONWAY, S.C. – James Madison softball started conference play with a 3-2 walk-off loss against Coastal Carolina Friday evening in Conway, S.C.

The Dukes dropped to 13-7 on the season while the Chanticleers advanced to 24-4.

Junior Alissa Humphrey recorded her 10th start of the season for James Madison, working all seven innings, and tossing three strikeouts.
Â
Graduate student Hannah Shifflett led the offense with two hits while sophomore Kylee Gleason added a hit and two RBI's. Freshman Kate Carrier also snagged a hit during tonight's contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth inning when Carrier ripped a single to left field. Shifflett then doubled to move Carrier to third base.
- Gleason hit a sacrifice fly to score both Carrier and Shifflett to put the Dukes up by two runs.
- Coastal Carolina hit a home run in the sixth inning to cut the deficit to one.
- In the seventh inning, Coastal Carolina loaded the bases and won the game from a walk-off double.
