HARRISONBURG, Va. – No. 12 James Madison lacrosse defeated Ohio State by a score of 16-7, finishing off a pair of wins against Big Ten opponents to extend its winning streak at Sentara Park Saturday afternoon.

The Dukes improved to 5-1 on the season, their best six-game start since 2020 while Ohio State dropped to 4-3.

The Dukes were led on offense by
Isabella Peterson with five goals while
Tai Jankowski netted four with a pair of assists. Each marked their fourth hat tricks of the season on Saturday, reaching them in the first half. A season-high eight different players scored on the afternoon as JMU out-shot the Buckeyes 33-23.

JMU's defense held another opponent to single-digit goals, as
Mairead Durkin added another two caused turnovers to her tally and nine different players grabbed at least one ground ball.
Kat Buchanan made another six saves and allowed just six goals, marking her fifth straight performance with a 50% or better save percentage.

For Ohio State, Jamie Lasda and Caley O'Brien each scored a pair of goals while Lasda added three assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter – James Madison 4, Ohio State 3
With things tied at one, two goals by Jankowski and one by Peterson put JMU in front at 4-1. However, Ohio State scored on consecutive possessions to get back to within one.
Second Quarter – James Madison 10, Ohio State 4
Peterson and redshirt sophomore
Maggie Clark put the Dukes ahead by three before JMU exploded for four goals in a span of 2:21 to build a 10-4 lead. The Dukes led 12-2 in shots and 8-0 in draw controls in the period.
Third Quarter – James Madison 14, Ohio State 6
The Dukes' lead swelled to 10 as Peterson scored twice while Jankowski and
Maddie Epke each added one before the Buckeyes put away the final two goals of the quarter.

Fourth Quarter – James Madison 16, Ohio State 7
JMU's lead once again reached 10 and only a score in the final seconds prevented a scoreless quarter from the defense. Ohio State committed seven turnovers in the quarter, accounting for half its total for the game.
